Questions You Might Have

We know that visiting a new church can be intimidating. We're guessing that you have a few questions. Here's our attempt to answer some of those questions.

What can I expect when I visit?

You will find a warm, friendly congregation waiting to welcome you. Regardless of your nationality, income level, education level, or occupation in life, there is a place for you and your family in our church.  Our Sunday Morning Worship service is one hour and fifteen minutes long starting at 10:30am and includes congregational singing, occasional special music, and the preaching and teaching of God's Word.

What is a Nazarene church?

The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Organized in 1908, the Church is now home to more than 2 million members worshiping in over 26,000 local congregations in 159 world areas.

I'm not a Nazarene...Can I still attend?

Absolutely! Every week we have guests from different denominations – and some with no church background – in our services.

Will I feel welcome at El Cajon Church of the Nazarene?

Yes. It is our hope that anyone from any walk of life will feel welcome at ECCN.

What should I wear to church?

We do not have a "dress code" at our church. Wear what you already have in your closet. You will see some people "dressed up" in the their "Sunday best" and some will be dressed more causally. More important than what you wear is that you come with a honest and open heart.

Do I have to bring a Bible?

We believe the Bible is God's only Word for us today and is the instruction manual for this life and all eternity. There are Bibles in each row that are within arm's reach of your seat during the church service in case you didn't bring one.

Will I be asked to give money?

Giving an offering is simply an act of worship and obedience for the folks who call ECCN their church home. As a visitor, your presence is enough. So please don't feel obligated to give when the offering plates are passed, unless you freely desire to do so.

Do you have a Children’s Church?

Yes. We have a great Children’s Church ministry that meets every Sunday morning. Our goal is to provide all children ages 5-12 with a meaningful worship experience! For more information, check out our Children’s Ministry page.

Do you have a Youth Ministry?

Yes. We have a dynamic youth ministry called The Center led by our Associate Pastor, Derek Taylor. Our youth (7th-12th grade) meet every Sunday during Sunday School at 9:30am and every Thursday night at 6:00 pm For more information, check out the Youth Ministry page.

I have more questions, who should I talk to?
